Author of Friendship and Forgiveness

Excel Awodu

Published at age 8

“WLIF taught me that leadership starts with using your voice.”
— Excel Awodu

Excel has attended the Lightning the Mind Program since it began in 2018. Along the way she learned practical lessons about spending wisely, saving resources at home, managing anger, and saying no when she means no.

Those lessons built her confidence to present in class, at church, and online. She has won leadership awards at school and became a published author at age eight with Friendship and Forgiveness.

Her book was adopted for a Friendship Day reading by a Massachusetts school, she has been invited to speak at organizations including the NAACP Brockton chapter, and she started a babysitting program to care for toddlers.
